You’ll want to take a look around this amazing log cabin property, maybe it will inspire you to a log home of your own. The log cabin is located in Decatur, Tennessee. Located on the banks of the Tennessee River, Decatur County, and its cities and communities have a proud heritage and a bright future. The county is a Tennessee Three-Star Community and is a wonderful place to visit or come home to at the end of the day. The following are just some of the things to do in the area.
Carroll Cabin Barrens State Natural Area. Carroll Cabin Barrens is a 250-acre natural area located near the Tennessee River in Decatur County. Carroll Cabin Barrens is a series of dramatic Silurian-aged limestone glades and barrens. The glades and barrens are well-developed and occur in longitudinal bands on the hillsides above the Tennessee River. Little bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium) dominates the open, gravelly portions of the glades as well as the margins. Forbs, unique to the glades and barrens complex, grow sporadically in open glades and congregate around the barren periphery.
The surrounding woods are a mixture of hardwoods of varied ages with the edges of the glades dominated by stunted eastern red cedars (Juniperus virginiana). The most common forest is an oak-hickory with short leaves (Pinus echinata) and Virginia pine (Pinus virginiana). It features a series of dramatic limestone glades and barrens with native prairie grass, a mixture of hardwoods (including oak and hickory) and Eastern Red Cedar, and several state rare plants. Located in the Western Valley of the Tennessee River, which is recognized by some experts as a separate physiographic region with unique flora, Carroll Cabin Barrens is classified as a Western Valley Limestone Hill Barren community and is considered a globally imperiled community.
Black Wolf Acres. Black Wolf Acres’s goal is to bring to the public the best produce, blueberries, blackberries, and strawberries in West and Middle Tennessee. Their produce will include corn, tomatoes, okra, pole beans, and all kinds of sweet peppers.
Beech Bend Park. Fishing is a great way to enjoy the day, and with two boat ramps, you can easily launch your boat or enjoy some fishing from the bank. With plenty of lake and riverfront areas, it won’t take long to find your perfect spot.
